Hi! Thanks for checking out my work. I’m Jordan, a recording engineer, mixer, producer, studio owner and musician working in independent music since 2003.
For most of my career, I’ve been involved in the world of indie-rock, post-punk, shoegaze, dark wave, no wave, noise rock, dark country, jangle pop, ambient and everything else that falls under the umbrella of alternative and/or experimental music.
I’ve been lucky enough to work with many unique and interesting artists in their formative years, creating critically and in some cases, culturally acclaimed records.
Some of my most well known clients include masked country superstar, Orville Peck, art rock heavyweights Wolf Parade and Sunset Rubdown, queer electro-folk trailblazer, Rae Spoon and feminist punk pioneers, Mecca Normal.
Just as important to me are the hundreds of lesser-known artists I’ve worked with over the years. First-time bands figuring it out as they go, old friends getting the gang back together to make a record for the joy of it, and folks who’ve never felt fully seen in a studio finally finally taking up space and being heard. Whether it’s someone quietly chasing a lifelong dream or pouring everything they have into their masterwork, it means so much to be able to help shape that experience.
I believe collaboration is key. No matter your level of experience, you should feel involved and heard throughout the process. From the first idea to the final tweak, we’ll keep things fun, fluid, collaborative, and focused on what makes your song work.
If you’re making something weird, raw, beautiful, or loud, I’d love to hear it.
Mixing
Mixing is where a good song becomes a great one. It’s the stage where balance, energy, and emotion come into focus and where having the right person at the helm can make all the difference. If you’ve recorded your own music or worked with a recording engineer who’s taken you this far, it can be incredibly helpful to bring in a fresh set of ears. A dedicated mix engineer offers just enough distance from the process to really hear what’s working and what might be getting in the way.
A mix engineer can help tame clutter, highlight the magic, and bring cohesion to even the most layered sessions. I’m focused on what can be done to help all the elements play well together.
Working remotely can be surprisingly easy and in some cases, even more freeing than working locally. I use Audiomovers, which lets you listen to the mix in real time from wherever you are like you’re sitting in the control room with me. We can also jump on a video call anytime you want to talk things through face to face. First mix passes are usually a vibe check to make sure we’re on the same page. Then I work with you to dial it in until it feels just right.
Hiring a mix engineer should be about about finding the person who gets your music, understands your vision, and knows how to help you bring it into focus. Sometimes that person isn’t in your city or even your country. Sometimes, they’re floating on a Gulf Island off the west coast of Canada! Hey, that sounds like me!
Here’s a closer look at how the mix comes together. Use the switch button below to toggle between the artist’s mix and my final mix.
My goal is to make sure you feel confident and excited to release your music.

Recording / Production
I started out in DIY spaces recording bands in warehouses, living rooms and churches with whatever gear I could get my hands on. Getting my start in less than ideal environments with limited gear taught me to be creative and experimental in my recordings.
20+ years later, I have the best of both worlds: I still love a creative problem to solve, but I (mostly) get to do it in great sounding rooms with great gear. These days I primarily work out of my retreat recording studio, The Noise Floor on Gabriola Island in British Columbia.

CLIENT TESTIMONIALS
THIS COLD NIGHT
Jordan doesn’t disappoint, he delivers quality mixes that highlight the emotionality of provided material.
He’s communicative and responsive to feedback and can make any good song sound great.
We’ve worked together on dozens of tracks and each experience benefitted the music.
ORVILLE PECK
Recording with Jordan is a dang good time. Professional and incredible work, plus the beautiful experience of staying on the island. I couldn’t recommend it more.
SPENCER KRUG
Jordan is very talented and great to work with. He knows his gear well and how to use it to a band’s full advantage. He is full of knowledge and ideas but is also open to different ideas, suggestions, and alternative ways of working, should a band want to experiment. This is simply to say that, despite his skill and expertise, Jordan is not “stuck in his ways” the way that I’ve found other engineers can be. He is very calm, kind, and funny, making it easy to feel at ease around him.
